- Product description: Waterproof mattress protector supplier for hotel and hospital programmes: quilted cotton or microfiber tops with TPU backing, MOQ 100 pcs.
A waterproof mattress protector is bought twice: once on cost, and once when the first batch comes back from the laundry. The second purchase is where the specification is decided, and most of it is invisible from the photograph buyers are shown.
This page is written for the people who have to sign off that specification: hotel groups replacing Protectors across a room class, hospital procurement teams working to a tender document, and importers building a private-label programme that has to reorder without the fabric changing hand between batches.
We are Comfytouch (Anhui Comfytouch Ltd), a bedding manufacturer in Hefei. Everything below is meant to let you settle the build before you ask for a quotation. The whole protector range sits on our waterproof mattress protectors page.
Two builds, one brief: fitted sheet or zip closure
The fitted build is a quilted top joined to a skirt that wraps the mattress on all four sides, held by elastic in the hem. It goes on the way a fitted sheet does, which is what housekeeping teams prefer: nothing to open, nothing to align, and no zip to catch in a trolley.
The zip closure build is a full encasement cover, quilted on the sleep surface, with a zip running along three sides. It is the build that suits a mattress which cannot be replaced mid-contract, because the mattress is sealed on every face rather than covered on one.
The decision usually comes down to who changes the bed. Where housekeeping strips and remakes beds daily, the fitted build wins on time. Where the mattress itself has to be protected from every direction, the encasement wins even though it takes longer to fit.
The backing is the part nobody photographs, and the part that fails first
Under the quilted surface sits a waterproof film laminated to the reverse of the fabric. On our protectors that film is TPU, and it is the single component that decides whether the protector is still waterproof in month eighteen.
Three things go wrong with a cheap backing. It delaminates from the fabric after repeated washing, so water finds a path between film and cloth. It stiffens and crackles, which guests hear every time they turn over. Or it is thin enough that a fold along the same line becomes a pinhole.

Bond strength, film thickness and wash durability are the numbers behind that, and they are confirmed against the batch test report on request / with sample rather than quoted as a catalogue figure. Ask for them against the exact fabric you are approving, because the same film behaves differently on a knit and on a terry loop.
Top fabric: cotton knit, terry, bamboo-blend or peached synthetic
The sleep surface is where a guest forms an opinion, so it is worth specifying separately from the backing. A cotton knit top reads cool and quiet and takes quilting cleanly. A terry loop top feels thicker under the sheet and hides stitch lines better. A bamboo-blend top is chosen where a programme wants a softer hand. A peached synthetic top is the option that holds its cost through a long contract and dries fastest between laundry cycles.
All four are produced in white as standard, because white is what shows a stain and therefore what a housekeeping audit expects. Colours, woven labels and printed size marks are produced to your requirement, and for anything shade-critical send a physical reference rather than a screen image.
Fitted depth, corners and the hospital bed problem
A protector fails at the corner before it fails anywhere else. If the skirt is short for the mattress, the elastic pulls the corner up every time the bed is made, and within a month the protector is being replaced for a reason that has nothing to do with the waterproof film.
So depth is specified, not assumed. Send the mattress depth and the corner radius, or send a protector you already use and it is matched. Hospital beds are the case that catches buyers out: profiling beds and beds with raised sections need extra allowance through the skirt, and crib and cot sizes are a different pattern rather than a scaled-down adult one.
Sizes are custom rather than a fixed run of labels, which matters when a market uses its own mattress dimensions or a property has a non-standard contract bed.
Laundry, tender documents and what we will and will not claim
A protector is bought on its wash life, so the specification conversation should include the laundry chemistry it will meet: temperature, detergent type and whether chlorine is in the cycle. Wash guidance is confirmed with your sample against your own process, because a protector that survives one hotel's laundry is not automatically suited to another's.
We do not print hygiene or medical claims on a protector. If your tender requires a specific test or a named certificate, tell us which one and the documents behind it are supplied with the sample; the company-level certificates that cover our operation sit on our certificates page.
Packing, cartons and the freight dimension nobody asks about
Packing is part of the specification, not an afterthought to it. Each protector is folded, sealed in a clear bag with an insert card, and the cartons are sized to the label you send rather than to a house carton.

That matters because a protector is a bulky item: carton dimensions drive how many units fit a pallet, and the pallet count drives freight. If you are comparing two quotations that look similar per piece, compare the packed carton volume as well, and ask for the carton dimensions against your own order quantity.

Frequently asked questions
Q1. Fitted or encasement for a hotel programme?
Fitted where housekeeping remakes beds daily, because it goes on like a sheet and nothing has to be zipped. Encasement where the mattress itself must be sealed on every face, which is usually the choice for a long contract or a property that cannot easily replace mattresses.
Q2. How do I specify the size?
Send the mattress dimensions and the mattress depth, plus the corner radius if it is unusual. Profiling and adjustable beds need extra allowance through the skirt, and crib or cot sizes are a separate pattern. A protector you already use can be sent and matched instead.
Q3. What is the top fabric choice?
Cotton knit reads cool and takes quilting cleanly; terry loop feels thicker under the sheet; a bamboo-blend gives a softer hand; peached synthetic holds its cost through a long contract and dries fastest. All are produced in white as standard.
Q4. How is the waterproof layer specified?
The backing is a TPU film laminated to the reverse of the fabric. Bond strength, film thickness and wash durability are confirmed against the batch test report on request / with sample, quoted against the exact fabric you approve rather than as a catalogue figure.
Q5. Can it carry our label and packing?
Yes. Custom woven labels, printed size marks and insert cards are part of the order at the standard minimum of 100 pcs per style, so there is no separate tier to reach before branding.
Q6. Do you supply samples?
Samples can be provided and the lead time is confirmed with your quotation. A sample is the only reliable way to judge the hand of the top fabric and how the skirt sits on your own mattress.
Send the sizes, fabric choice and quantity through the contact form and our export team will come back with the specification points that need deciding first.
