Open any hotel linen room and you will see the same thing: one or two Pillows per bed, and most of them are microfiber, not down. Not because down is worse, but because housekeeping has to keep hundreds of pillows clean, and a pillow that can go straight into the washer and come out the same shape is worth more to a hotel than one that needs specialist care. Down is the upgrade on the executive floor; down alternative is what carries the building.

We are Comfytouch, a bedding factory in Hefei, Anhui, China. Why most hotel beds run on microfiber, not down

Three practical reasons, and they come up in almost every enquiry we get.

Laundry first: machine washable and quick drying covers the daily reality of housekeeping far better than delicate natural fills, and a pillow that survives repeated wash cycles without going flat is a pillow that stays out of the replacement budget. Second, allergies and dust: synthetic filling gives you a straightforward answer when a guest asks, without the maintenance caveats that come with natural down. Third, consistency — a repeatable feel across a thousand rooms is easier to quote, easier to replace in ones and twos, and easier to defend to a purchasing manager.

Then there is sleep position. Side sleepers usually need more loft under the neck, back sleepers less; that is why we build this pillow in soft, medium and firm options rather than one "universal" feel.

Support that does not sag — gusset, filling and stitching

A cheap pillow collapses in the middle because the filling shifts and the shell has no structure. Two things fix that: a gusset (the side wall that gives the pillow height and keeps the edges from flattening), and box stitching that holds the filling where it belongs so you do not end up with a lump in one corner after washing.

The shell is polyester fiber ticking, machine washable, and gusset height is set per spec sheet at sampling. We can run a wash-and-dry check on your sample so you can judge shape retention yourself rather than take our word for it (wash test on the sample: cost and lead time confirmed in our quotation). If you sell to allergy-conscious markets, tell us at enquiry stage — we will explain what can and cannot be claimed with the fill and ticking we offer, based on the batch test report rather than marketing language.

How a pillow OEM order runs

It works like this: you send the target spec (size, firmness, gusset height, ticking) or a photo of a pillow you already sell — we confirm the construction — a sample goes out with the lead time stated in our quotation — you wash it and sleep on it — you approve — we book production and send a QC photo set before shipping.

Branded orders are routine: main labels, care labels and hang tags are made to your artwork, and packing is individual bag plus outer carton, with color, size and logo customization available. Hotels often order mixed firmness in one shipment — tell us your room mix and we will suggest the split. Repeat orders keep your spec on file. And if you import into the EU or the US, tell us at the start: care label language, fibre naming and packing rules differ, and it is cheaper to get them right at the sewing stage than to relabel at the port.

Is a microfiber pillow machine washable?

Yes — that is the main reason hotels buy it. Wash and drying instructions go on the care label per the ticking and fill used; we recommend running a wash test on your sample before bulk so the results are confirmed on your own equipment.

Will the pillow go flat or clump after washing?

A gusset and box stitching keep the filling distributed, which is what prevents clumping and collapsing edges. You can verify it on a sample: wash, tumble dry, then check the centre and corners.

What filling does a down alternative pillow use?

Polyester fiber — a synthetic down-alternative fill. Exact filling weight and any performance figures for your order are confirmed against the batch test report on request or with the sample.

How do we choose between soft, medium and firm?

Match it to sleep position and guest profile: soft for stomach and front sleepers, medium as the safe default for most hotel rooms, firm or a higher gusset for side sleepers. Mixed firmness in one shipment is normal — send us your room mix and we will suggest the split.
