We sell mattress toppers to hotel groups, importers and bedding brands, and the brief is almost never about the topper itself. It is about what the topper has to survive: a hotel laundry cycle that runs far more often than a home one, a compressed pallet in a container, and a retail listing where the buyer checks loft before anything else.

So most sample requests we receive ask the same four things - what the fill is, how thick it finishes, what sizes we can cut, and whether the cover can carry a brand. Three of those we can answer from a specification. The fourth is the one that decides whether a programme runs for one season or for five.

Filling and fabric decide everything downstream

Both topper families we currently run are quilted and both use a 100% cotton down-proof fabric. The difference is the fill. The down option is filled with 15% white goose down, which is what hotel buyers ask for in suites and what retail buyers position as a natural fill. The polyester option uses polyester fibre - the practical choice for volume programmes, for markets where a natural fill is harder to import, and for buyers who want the same quilted hand feel at a different cost position.

Both are available in white as standard or matched to your own reference, and part of the range carries an anti-bacteria finish that some markets ask for on toppers and protectors. Ask which construction a quotation is based on: the two are not interchangeable in use, and the specification that matters to your market is decided by this choice rather than by the quilt pattern.

Thickness, loft and the claims we will not print

Loft is the first thing a buyer checks and the last thing we quote loosely. Final thickness depends on the fill weight, the quilt spacing and the fill itself, so two toppers that photograph identically can finish at different heights. Publishing one number would only be accurate for one construction, which is why we do not put a thickness figure on a page. Customizable thickness & loft upon request / with sample.

Instead, the details that vary by line are confirmed against the batch test report on request / with sample - thickness, fill weight, the balance of the fill beyond the 15% white goose down we list, and the test basis for the anti-bacteria option. Send the loft you are trying to hit and we will tell you which construction reaches it, with the documentation attached. That is a slower answer than a number in a table, and it is the one that survives a buyer's own inspection.

Cutting to your market, not to a catalogue list

Toppers are cut to your dimensions rather than sold from a fixed size chart. A European double runs 137 x 200 cm in our current range, and the same construction is cut for other markets and other bed sizes on request. Two things decide the cut: the mattress dimensions you are fitting, and whether the topper ships as a stand-alone item or inside a bedding set, where the labelled size and the packed size have to agree.

In practice this means hotel buyers send us the mattress sizes room category by room category, and retail buyers send the finished size they intend to print on the label. We cut to that. Because the fill is quilted to the measured panel rather than pulled from stock, changing a size between seasons is a production detail rather than a new product.

OEM, packing and the first order

Branding is the part buyers under-specify early. Custom logo work is available on the topper range, and the packing format is a separate decision from the topper itself - our toppers ship in a PVC vacuum bag or a non-woven PVC bag, and a private-label bag or sleeve is specified alongside the logo rather than after it.

Minimum quantity depends on the construction. The down topper starts at 10 pcs and the polyester topper at 50 pcs, with customisation work on the polyester line at the same 50 pcs level. Samples can be provided, and on a topper that is worth doing before a season is committed: a sample is where the loft, the quilt panel size and the logo position are settled at the same time.
